My Causes

Hi, Since I'm getting some feedback that isn't just questions to me, I thought I would post them unless requested not to.

Hi Mary,
Ref: the Marie Tierney autobiography
I think she kind of ended in 1939 when we arrived in Rochester. Bob--if he would sit down and think could give some info--(cooberated)
(I don't know if he meant corroborated or cooperated, M.)

Dick and I were there until 1949 and 1952 respectfully. Bob was there until she went off with Irene (after leaving the convent) then Bob came back for a while and she lived in that High rise in Rochester until 4/15/75.

The war years were stressful--her father dying in 1944-- 5 in war zones and Toby in the Korean deal--Harold gone in 1944--, Marcia and Dad gone in the fifty's, Sonia in the 60's--Alcoholism permeating the family etc.

All through this not a complaint!!!

What a Saint she was.

To Uncle Bob's 'Other' Nieces-
Great job with the web sites, I especially love the Where's Bob part! (See TierneysRus)

I'm glad you are all taking such good care of him. With Aunt Gerry gone I wondered where the old fart would end up.

My Dad is Gordon Austin. Aunt Gerry always called him Brother! I'm sure I met a lot of you at her funeral.

Uncle Bob was just here--looks great and has lost 30 lbs since I last saw him.

He was on his way to see his old buddies at Las Vegas paving then on to Denver.

Great work guys!!

I love the old pictures from long ago. Sure see a lot of resemblence in the newer generation of little ones. I can just imagine all the trouble all those Tierney boys got into on that farm. You have done a great job with these websites. I really enjoy them.

Mary T (Dick's#4)

Thanks Mary,
I really enjoy working on this.

Hi Mary,

Your link - "Separate Families" looks interesting -- looks like you're trying to split up generations for easier viewing? I like the idea since the main tree is so large. Thanks for keeping the family tree going!

Hi Tessa, so if I follow the family tree right ... you are one of my Uncle Pat's grandchildren? Glad you are getting the family tree names straight, it's a lot for Mary to keep up with. Did you know you had such a big family?

Hello. I'm Tessa Tierney, and you spelled my name wrong I'm in the 7th generation (now the 6th). My real name is Tessa Katrin-Irene Tierney. please correct it. Ashley Tierney is also spelled wrong you spell it Ashley Jonelle Tierney. Please correct it! Thank you very much!

Hello Tessa,

Very nice to e-meet you. I  thought Jounele looked a little weird but you never know. That was your grand-uncle Toby's typing. (Yeah, I point fingers away from me every chance I get.) Your dad is my cousin, that makes us 1st cousins once removed.

I am so impressed with the work you have done with the websites. I remember my Mom wanting all of us to stay connected and to know our heritage. She is surely smiling down upon us.

Thank you, Mary T (Dick's)

Pauline E. Tierney recently got a new puppy during her visit to Maine. The dog is a Yorkie-Poo his birthday is February 9th 2003. She named him Arthur our neighbor gave him the middle initial of D for Dog so he is Arthur D. Tierney. Hope to get to meet more of you all some day.

Lillian M. Foley Tierney (Toby's daughter-in-law)

I have had some responses from real actual relatives who found us through this site!

Jessica, my first cousin once removed, her husband Uriel and their girl Morelia, and Dennis my second cousin.

One person was from Australia! Too bad they weren't related though that would have been too cool.

Let's put more pix online. It's about time we put some faces with the people we've only heard of. I'll even try to find one of me. For instance, what does Tim {AKA The Chinese Butlet} look like? These sites are fabulous! Let's ALL of keep them growing.

Gwen, what is a Butlet?

From Gwen Tierney Olson

I personally found the letters between Harold & his Mom very timely, (this from TierneysRus) and yes, bittersweet. Mostly I really appreciated how strong Grandma Tierney was to keep writing, not knowing if he were coming back or not. I also had to smile at the brevity of some of Harold's letters. Anyone who ever received email from Toby had to see the similarity. Look forward to seeing more info on the site. And more pix
